Summary
Our current recommendation for our customers is to not enable Express installation files support in SCCM. Please read further for more information.
Description
In Configuration Manager 1702, Microsoft added support for Express installation files for Windows 10 Cumulative Updates, you can find more information here. We learned that in 1710, Microsoft added ACP interface to this.
We have since been carrying out our own tests here at Adaptiva, and during our analysis of Express files support in SCCM, we have found numerous inefficiencies that we feel will prevent acceptable performance for our customers, even if we were to implement the ACP interface support for it within Adaptiva OneSite. We’re currently working with the Microsoft SCCM product team in getting at least some of these addressed, so that customers can gain at least acceptable performance from their use, instead of experiencing significant delays for patches to apply.
Therefore, our current recommendation is to not enable Express installation files support in SCCM. Without express updates Adaptiva OneSite will still download the content in our usual way using our optimized WAN protocol and enterprise P2P technologies
